Privacy Policy
5ki is a place to publish short public lists. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it short, because we collect very little.
Who we are
5ki is operated by Obrigado, LLC (“we”, “us”), a limited liability company formed in Delaware, USA, with its registered office at 501 Silverside Road, Suite 105, Wilmington, Delaware 19809, USA. Obrigado, LLC is the data controller for the personal data described on this page.
For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@5ki.com. We read everything sent there.
What we collect
- Your email address. Needed to create your account and sign you in. If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your email address and basic profile details from that provider.
- Your profile. The handle, display name, and optional bio you choose. These are public by design — they appear next to everything you publish.
- The lists you write. Titles, descriptions, and list entries. Published lists are public and can be read by anyone, including search engines.
- A view count per list. We count how many times each list is displayed. This is a single running total per list. It is not linked to you, your account, or your IP address, and we do not build any profile of who read what.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, we do not run ads, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Cookies
We set one kind of cookie: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the site to work, so it does not require consent. We use no advertising, profiling, or analytics cookies. Clearing it, or signing out, removes it.
Why we may use your data (legal bases)
- To provide the service — running your account and publishing your lists (performance of a contract).
- To keep the site working and safe — security logs, abuse prevention, and aggregate view counts (legitimate interests).
- To meet legal obligations where the law requires it.
Who processes it for us
We keep the list of third parties deliberately short. We use Supabase for authentication and the database, and our hosting providers to serve the site. They process data only on our instructions.
Because we are a United States company, your data may be stored or processed in the USA and in other countries where our providers operate. Where data is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the safeguards required by applicable data protection law, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Your account and content stay until you delete them. You can delete any list at any time from your desk. If you want your whole account and its content removed, email us and we will erase it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive it in a portable format. Much of this you can do yourself: your profile and lists are editable and deletable from your desk. For anything else, email privacy@5ki.com and we will respond within the time the law allows.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom and think we have handled your data badly, you can also complain to the data protection authority for your country. Residents of some US states have comparable rights under their own privacy laws — write to us and we will honour them.
A word about publishing
Anything you publish on 5ki is meant to be read. Once a list is public, other people may copy, quote, screenshot, or cache it, and search engines may index it. Deleting it here removes it from 5ki, but we cannot claw back copies made elsewhere. Please do not publish anything you would not want seen publicly — including personal details about yourself or anyone else.
Children
5ki is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be signposted on the site.
